Dr. Suniti Kumar Mandal, Retired Associate Professor of Botany, Popular Science activist and writer, resides at Berhampore, District- Murshidabad, West Bengal, India.  He has been doing photography since 1970, when he was in Post-graduation studies at Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. There he got the opportunity to learn Pictorial Photography from eminent Photo-artist Subrata Ray and with his encouragement Dr. Mandal participated in photography salons from 1971 to 1976.  Somehow it was not continued, but he was not away from photography. He has done film-based black and white photography for a long time and switched over to digital photography to update him. After retirement, he again starts to participate in National and International salons. He also teaches photography, delivers popular talks on photography in different workshops. He writes articles on photography and one of the articles “Photomicrography” has been published in 2010 in Jubilee Viewfinder Volume as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of FIP (1953-2003).
At present Dr. Mandal is the president of the Photographic Society of Murshidabad (PSM) the oldest and only photography club in the Murshidabad district. His field of interest is Pictorial Photography, especially Portrait and Child study. He is also interested in travel photography and landscape.
