Steeve Philip DUBOIS, EFIAP, GPU Aphrodite, ECAP, ESFIAP, ESCAP, Hon PESGSPC, Hon FICS, Hon FSWAN, Hon FWPG, Hon FPI, Hon CPE

Country: Mauritius

My name is Steeve Philip DUBOIS and I am from the Republic of Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean.
I started photography seriously in 1979, when I received an SLR from my parents as a birthday gift. I was studying at the Royal College Port Louis and I joined the photographic society there. It was the era of silver-based films (digital was completely out of this world). I read books and magazines, I made tons and tons of errors. Learning all the time from my errors and from any source available.
I switched to digital in 2004 but I still feel nostalgic for films.
I stepped into the world of professional photography in 1994 when I took up employment as photographer in an advertising agency.
In 2002, I started working as a freelance photographer. Up to now.

In 1985, I joined a photo club, the "Association de l'Art Photographique de l'Ile Maurice" (AAPIM). In 1988, I became president of the club and held office for 2 years. In May 1990, I became president again. That year, the club's name was changed to "Cercle des Artistes Photographes" (CAP) and it is still holding good.
From 1990 onwards, I have been holding the post of president up to the present day (except for 2 one-year breaks).
My club, the CAP, is an affiliate of the "Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique" (FIAP).
On a personal level, I am affiliated to the Global Photographic Union (GPU), the Image Colleague Society (ICS) and the Society of Photographers Singapore (SPS). I am Life Member of Image Colleague Society and Honorary Life Member of Persona International. I am not specialised in any specific type of photography; I do a bit of everything though I do have some preference for Nature and Black & White.
I hold the following photographic honours:
EFIAP, GPU Aphrodite, ECAP, ESFIAP, ESCAP, Hon PESGSPC, Hon FICS, Hon FSWAN, Hon FWPG, Hon FPI, Hon CPE.
