HONORARY DISTINCTION
Hon.CPE

Shivashankar Hebbale

I began my amateur photography career in 2022 when my son presented me with a Nikon D7500 body with a kit lens of mm 18-140 on my 66th  birth day! I love travelling that too wild. Did not do much with the camera except learning fundamental like Aperture, Shutter and ISO.
On a local trip I clicked a few pictures and as couple of them looked good (as per my standard) shared them on social media with my friends and relatives. Got some pat on the back which encouraged me to delve into the capabilities of the camera and I added a 70-200mm lens to my gear. After a few month I discovered the limitations of  70-200 for wild life photography and went for a 200-500 lens. There was quite a significant improvement in the quality of photographs I clicked. I was a life member of YPS (Youth Photographic Society) in Bengaluru for a long time but was not active. I did not know what a Photo Salon was. I was encouraged to participate in a few of them and this gave me an opportunity to know where I stand in terms of composing an image.

Soon learnt that it is visualisation of an image and quality equipment which can support your composing skills to excel in capturing good images. So decided to change my gear from Nikon to Sony Alpha A7r3 body and a 200-600 mm f/6.3 G series lens. I have now added a 70-200mm f/2.8 G lens to my gear. This has changed the way I compose my shots and results are encouraging. I had an acceptance of over hundred images and a couple of club level awards.
In this short photography journey of mine there came a recognition from Campina Photo Exhibitions Society spotting  my  work and honouring me with a Hon.CPE - a First for me.
I am greatly thankful to CPE Society and specially to Mr. Razvan Baleanu.
With this encouraging honour I will continue to work in the field of photography art as long as I can carry the gear on my shoulders.
