HONORARY DISTINCTION
Hon.CPE

Pete Allcock Hon.CPE

Country: England

Like a lot of people of my age (71) when i was younger my photography did not amount to anything more than taking holiday snaps and snaps of my children, using a “point & shoot” compact film camera.
In 2007 i purchased my first digital camera, a Panasonic TZ3 which i thoroughly enjoyed using and as well as the usual holiday snaps, we now had grandchildren so, i enjoyed taking countless image of them too.
I have always had a love of nature and now with the digital camera i could take as many photos of the birds in the garden as i liked.
In 2011 i bought my first DSLR, a Canon 600D which came with a 18-55mm kit lens. I also purchased a Canon 75-300mm EF f/4-5.6 to enable me to start taking more wildlife images.
The next and most important step along the way was my decision to splash out and purchase a Canon L series telephoto lens (EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM) and to join my local Photographic Society (Nantwich Camera Club) this was in January 2013
Very shortly after joining the club i started to enter the monthly competitions and that was a significant step for me as i have learned so much from listening to the feedback from the visiting judges as my images were critiqued.

Over the years i have steadily developed my kit which currently consists of the following:
Canon 7D MKll
Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS ll USM
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM MKlll
Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM
Canon 500mm f/4 L IS USM MKll
Canon x1.4 MKlll Extender
Canon x2 MKlll Extender

My favourite genre is Wildlife with all of my photography being UK based, including regular trips to the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Highlands, Wales & various locations in England.
I am a member of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) paying regular visits to many of their reserves. I am also a member of the National Trust.
My first entry into an International Salon was the 4th Campina in 2019 and i have been a regular contributor since.
I am extremely happy and honoured to receive the Honorary Distinction and look forward to continuing to contribute to CPE for many years to come.
