HONORARY DISTINCTION
Hon.CPE

Jacqueline Schletter

Country: USA

My photography journey began when film was our only option, building sound fundamentals in the “old school” darkroom.  I loved the entire journey; the shooting, the film developing, the print processing … all in black and white of course. Coloring an image was done by hand as color processing was far too expensive!

I still feel that same sense of excitement and thrill of creation as I search for the essence of creating artful subjects. Sometimes that artistry is brought to life with camera settings and great light, other times I find it in post processing. Most often it is a combination of what lies before me, my imagination, the magic of what is now digital technology and of course the processing software that is a necessity driven by the RAW file size.

At the end of the day I am privileged to spend so much time in the natural beauty that is coastal South Carolina (and beyond), efforting to remind humans that there is so much to see that still evokes wonder. I’ve done my work properly as an artist if I can create something that is not only beautiful, but a reminder of what lives just outside of our doors and why we need to protect it.
