Dimitris Toussimis

Country: Greece

I was born in Greece in 1932 and I am a retired surgeon brigadier of the Greek Army. Since 1960 I have been an enthusiastic amateur photographer interested in all kinds of photography, especially in nature and architectural details, and I am a specialist in echoramas. I usually take my photos on close up mode, focusing on details, often resulting in an abstract end photo result.

Throughout these years, I have exposed my work in 10 personal exhibitions, I have taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad and I have obtained a significant number of distinctions in international and Panhellenic photo contests.

Member of the Hellenic Photographic Society (HPS) since 1981, I have been repeatedly elected as a member of its Board of Directors, as well as its General Secretary and last but not least its President. I have also served as Chief Editor of the official magazine of the HPS and as an frequent article writer in the major Greek Photo magazine “Photographos”.

In 2009 the administration Board of HPS nominated me Honorary President of the Society.

For my contribution to photography, I have been honored with the titles of EFIAP by FIAP, PPSA by the Photographic Society of America, EHPS/gold & EsHPS by the Hellenic Photographic Society and most recently of Hon Member of Campina, Romania.
