In November 2019 he Retired as Chief Photographer in The Hindu. His father Srimannarayana and mother Veera Lakshmi both are Agriculture laborers. He married Veeramma. He has two daughters, both are married. His guru is K Ahobhala Rao. He started serious professionalism in 1982. The natural combination of colours is often a photographer's delight. Like a poet, his imaginative eye, in a fine frenzy, tried its best to give a shape and form to the minute details of photographs that he captured over a period of time. Monochrome and colour photographs are an integral part of his panels today touching upon various shades of photography. He has a special interest in tribes in India. He captured almost every important aspect of daily life of tribes in Andhra, Telangana and Odessa States in the last Three decades. He took landscapes, Rural life and Agricultural pictures in India. He covered several Calamities, news pictures and political issues in different Style. |
At the personal level, he trains young photographers. He played a pivotal role in promoting and supporting photographers associations. He has been instrumental in honouring stalwarts of yester years through different forums. He strikes a proverbial balance between his profession and compassion. These qualities earned him much kudos from various stakeholders in the field. Honours, awards and laurels came rolling his way. One of the pictures titled Thirsty published in RPS London on the occasion of 150 years of the society. Often his presentations to prestigious competitions at Regional, National and International levels won him universal recognition as well as prizes. His name has been figuring in the top ten list of various organisations. He is a member of many National and International Photographic Associations today. He feeds on his innate art. He dotes on the lens. Never has he rested on laurels. The unflagging zeal keeps him alive in his profession.
Educational Qualification is MCJ, MA, DPhoto and BFA Photography studying
He worked in Deccan Chronicle from 1988 to 1994, Indian Express Hyderabad and Vijayawada 1994 to 2000. From 2000 to 2019 worked in The Hindu, Vijayawada, A.P.
He conducted a number of photo contests and exhibitions. He conducted the last five years National level photo contest for photojournalists under the State Photojournalists Association of AP as president and jury. He is the jury of State, National and International Photo contests. He gives tips to students of schools and colleges. He is faculty of a number of workshops. His award pictures are exhibited in several art galleries. He trained photojournalists Narayana Rao, Ramana, Mastan, Appa Rao, Murali, Prasad, Vasu, Raju, Srinivas and Vinay. He takes pleasure in making photographs rather than merely taking them. Most of his photographs frame ideas and words in pictures. His tryst with the camera is a continuing saga. For him, the rest is photography.
