Ashok Viswanathan Country: India My photography started in the film days of early 70's with a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta roll film camera, graduating to a Nikon FM with 28mm/75-150 mm zoom and a 50mm f1.4 lens. The film of choice was Ilford and East German ORWO. In 2003 went digital with a Nikon D100 DSLR (6.1MP) with a 24~85 f2.8 Nikon AF macro zoom. Later adding the 14mm f2.8 Nikon AFD and the 80-200 f2.8 AF-ED nikon zoom.This gave excellent results for many years untill I moves to fuji x pro 1 and XE3. My lenses are a 18-55 f 2.8, 50-140mm f2.8 and the 10~24mm f4 Fujinon lens, I recently added a old Nikon 105mm macro & a Metabones adaptor.  I also shoot film mainly FP4 and HP5 on my Rolleiflex. My primary interest is black & white but the richness and flexability of digital colour facinates me.  I work on an Apple Air laptop connected to  a profiled EIZO 24 inch monitor with colour space Adobe ProPhoto...Software is Affinity Photo & NIX.

Exhibited in several national & international exhibitions with over 500 acceptances in 37 countries.. Work accepted at prestigous shows such as PSA annual exhibition, FIP intl circuit, Malmoe Intl, Sydney Harbour, Southampton Intl, and Singapore International.and several others..One of my early b&w prints from the 1970's is in the permanent collection of HPF in Ooty.Several digital images are in the collection of the FIP and the International Federation for Photographic Art (FIAP) Luxembourg....Several awards recieved from national and international exhibitions..Now exploring "alternative techniques from the mid 1800's such as Cyanotypes, Bromoil, Gum Bichromate, Gum oil etc using large format internegatives...Enjoy shooting portraits, seascapes, landscapes, pictorial, & fine art. ....My image of “sail boats” was accepted by The Alternative Photography site to celebrate “Cyanotype Day 2021”....Member of Photographic society of Madras, Youth Photography Club, Federation of Indian photography, The Royal Photographic Society and the Photographic Society of America.

My work has been published by The Royal Photographic Society, Photographic Society of America, Federation of Indian Photography, Asian photography magazine- Camera Pixo magazine - Fuji X Passion - French Foto - Dummies publication NYC (book cover) - Lens Magazine - Smart Photography - At a Glance - Fuji Love Magazine - Culturama magazine - Fuji Love e book and also corporate brochures. For two years in a row (2020 & 21) was one of the Nominees at the Spider Awards night that celebrates the best of black & white photography in the world.
