EXCELLENCE DISTINCTION

The world of photography is always changing. I have always tried to adapt and adjust to these changes. My personal photo journey involves starting out with a total manual camera, to motor drive and auto-focus (even eye-controlled auto-focus), to digital cameras so overloaded with software it is hard to actually handle the camera without accidentally pushing a button (often a button I never use anyway). From monochrome to color, from film to digital and from the darkroom to Photoshop. From disposable cameras to telephone cameras. From working in a photo store to permanently banned on social media.
But every journey comes to an end. I have stopped adjusting and adapting to changes in the world of photography. For me it is the basics in photography. It is about finding a location, reading or setting the light, setting the exposure to what I want to achieve with the photo and communicating with the female model in an open and friendly manner. I still believe that composition and attention to detail is important to my photography. The resulting picture is hopefully something that creates an emotion with people who see it. I always try to create some kind of story in the picture and also try to have a title to the picture that adds to that story. Also I try to get it right in-camera with only minimal adjustments in the post-process.

It is also obvious that there is changes in the world of salons/exhibitions. However, I still find it quite rewarding and interesting to participate in international salons. It is good to see that Campina Photographic Exhibitions is one of the few salons that keep the focus on photo and photography. The fact that Campina Photographic Exhibitions awards distinctions, like the Excellence CPE that I now have received, is truly a big motivation to keep supporting this salon.
Thank you so much to Razvan Baleanu and Campina Photographic Exhibitions for the E.CPE distinction.
