Prema Kakade, from Bangalore, India, is an artist by nature having dabbled professionally in various forms of art like Batik, Tanjore and Mysore paintings. These pieces of art have reached innumerable countries through the prestigious Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation.
During childhood, she was exposed to photography by her uncle E Hanumantha Rao, the renowned wildlife photographer. However it was only in 2015 did she take to photography passionately. Joining Youth Photographic Society in 2016 catapulted this passion and brought her Uttar Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy Award, Karnataka Tourism Award, along with national and international awards and recognition from over 35 countries.
Photography to her is not only an extension of her art form, but goes much deeper as a meditative media. It not only has brought her much closer to nature but has given her a new purpose of showcasing it through her lens, as she sees it. Her joy in photography lies in bringing awe in those who see her work and hopes to bring in a sense of appreciation, care, and love for nature.
Being an avid traveller her interest in photography includes various genres like pictorial, nature, wildlife, macro and travel. She is an active member of Youth Photographic Society and is currently one of the Directors in its Executive Committee. In the club’s 49 years of existence, 2020 has seen her in the role of first lady Salon Secretary at the YPS All India Digital Salon. Her active participation in managing the various activities of the club got her the prestigious ‘Service Award’ in 2020.
