Klaus Stock Country: Switzerland Photographic career In 1969 I acquired a racing driver's license in Montlhery near Paris. Motorsport was my dream, but without sponsors and the appropriate support it is not so easy. My budget was not enough to subject myself to the battle of materials any longer. Captivated by motorsport, I bought a SLR camera and switched from racing to photography. At first it took a little practice, but I was soon able to achieve some success with drivers buying my photos or the well-known long-distance pilot Herbert Müller even using my photos for his autograph card. From then on, photography has been my constant companion. As a freelancer for the local newspaper, my tasks were not just sports photography. In 1975 I joined the local photography club as a member. The following year I was elected technical director at the general meeting. However, I only held this position for one year. At the next general meeting, the members elected me president of the Photo Club Dietikon. I remained in this position for the next 10 years. In the years 1980 - 1983 I led various photography courses for the leisure committees of the neighboring communities of Fahrweid and Unterengstringen.

At the general meeting in 1987 I resigned after 10 years as president of the Photo Club Dietikon.
The board of SAPV-ASPA (now PHOTO SUISSE) had already asked me to join them. So at the delegates' meeting in spring 1987 I was elected to the board of the national association SAPVASPA - now PHOTO SUISSE.
In 1999, I organized the FIAP Congress in Switzerland on behalf of Photo Suisse. It was the 25th Congress, meaning the 50th anniversary of the FIAP. At the 1st FIAP Congress from June 17th to 19th, 1950 in Bern, the spiritual father and life director of the International Association for Photographic Art (FIAP), Dr. Maurice VAN DE WIJER, founded the FIAP. Individual board members promised me their support. The majority of the promised support remained just that, and from then on my only leisure activity was »organizing the 1999 FIAP Congress.« In connection with the congress, the Black & White Biennale also had to be organized and the catalog produced.
In the end, everything worked out. And when I hear the comments of the participants in Thun today, everyone enjoyed it. During the organization, I was in close contact with the Secretary General of FIAP. He encouraged me to stand for a vacant position on the presidium at the congress. To my surprise, I was elected with a large majority. I was already an honorary member of LFD and PHOTO SUISSE and to my great joy I was also awarded HonEFIAP at the congress in Thun. At first I was a member of the executive committee, and at the Hungarian congress I was elected treasurer. I really enjoyed my work on the executive committee. I would still like to be a member of the executive committee today, but my professional situation forced me to hand in my resignation at the 29th congress in Zilina, Slovakia.
In 2014 I received an invitation to take part in Art-Image 2014 to take photos for Arad with a group of photographers from different countries. On that occasion I met the president of the national association Eugen Negra. He encouraged me to take part in the upcoming Romanian salon. The first time I took part I was very well accepted, including an award. I was hooked and have taken part in salons regularly ever since. In the meantime, I have achieved the EFIAP/p (Platinum) award by participating in most salons with FIAP patronage.
I have been appointed as a member of the jury at countless international salons. I was able to travel to Vietnam twice, was a juror in Paris and Luxembourg. I was able to give my verdict twice for Romania. I already had a ticket there, but Corona prevented the flight, so the judging took place via the Internet. The same applies to the assessment for Golden Drageon, Singapore, the Loftman Art Society, India and already five times for the NAP National Academy of Photography Kolkata. Next job, member of the jury 1st PIAZZA International Salon, Artemis Circuit India and on April 20th again on the jury for NAP National Academy of Photography Kolkata.
Since 2019 I have been back on the board of the Limmattaler Fotoclub Dietikon and responsible for the homepage. At the 2023 general meeting I was also re-elected as president.
